Antler Bolsters Global Leadership with Appointment of Graeme Mather as Global Partner
Leading early-stage venture capital firm continues impressive growth trajectory with key strategic hire.
Sydney, 29th November 2023 – Antler, the most active seed-stage venture capital investor globally (Global league tables: Q2 2023 - Pitchbook), is thrilled to announce the appointment of Graeme Mather as Global Partner. Mather, a highly respected leader in the global asset management industry, joins Antler's expanding team as the firm deepens its engagement with large institutional asset owners worldwide.
In his new role, based in Sydney, Mather will help cultivate and strengthen relationships with major investors, working collaboratively with global colleagues as Antler expands its partnerships with some of the world's largest asset owners.
Over the past 24 months, Antler has seen significant commitment from more than 30 large institutional asset owners, including 12 Sovereign Wealth Funds and Government investors. Earlier this year, Antler announced the successful closure of the AU$425m Global Elevate Fund and has continued to see strong interest and commitments to its early-stage strategies globally.
Prior to joining Antler, Mather served as an executive director at Schroders, responsible for business strategy, distribution, marketing and product. With a wealth of experience accumulated over 18 years at Mercer in London and Sydney, Mather ran Mercer’s Wealth division in the Pacific. Recently, he co-founded Datafabric Pty Ltd in 2021, providing data solutions to optimise sales and marketing functions.
Commenting on his appointment, Mather stated, "Antler is a unique global asset management firm with an amazing technology platform that allows the firm to find phenomenal founders building businesses that solve some of the world's biggest problems. I’m excited to be able to combine two of my passions in the role – innovation and investing to contribute to the firm’s growth."
Ant Millet, Global Partner at Antler, expressed excitement about Mather joining the team, saying, "Asset managers are generally increasing their allocations to alternatives and innovation, looking to capture the leading growth trends that will contribute to the largest and most impactful companies over the next decade (Quantum, Blockchain, AI, ML, Robotics, Cloud). Post-market peak in 2021 the trend has been to allocate to the earlier stages of innovation and venture, and globally. With our ‘day zero’ model at Antler providing scalable solutions to institutional asset owners, we’re excited to have Graeme join us and contribute to building out our strategic partnerships.
