CPD Education for Doctors is inefficient and outdated
Doctors need to continuously learn throughout their careers. In the UK, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements ensure that doctors continue to learn and maintain their professional knowledge and competence throughout their careers. As part of CPD, doctors must complete a minimum of 50 hours of learning each year in order to maintain their licence to practice and bolster their professional standards. Record-keeping is also crucial, as doctors are required to keep an up-to-date and accurate record of their CPD activities.
On the flip side of these requirements, medical knowledge is continuing to expand exponentially, doubling every 73 days. With a new article published every 26 seconds, the majority of doctors are feeling overwhelmed by the increasing pressure to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements.
The current methods of learning lag behind, with doctors often relying on long articles, expensive conferences and time-consuming webinars to maintain their medical knowledge. Alongside an already stretched schedule, doctors need to take on new knowledge and record their efforts in order to meet CPD requirements.
Praktiki: Leveraging AI to redefine medical education
Praktiki is transforming CPD in the same way Duolingo revolutionised language learning by creating an AI-driven mobile first microlearning solution which allows doctors to continually learn alongside their busy schedules. Based on evidence-based methodologies, the gamified learning experience improves engagement and allows doctors to earn and track their CPD effortlessly, eliminating the administrative burden.
On the content side, the AI-powered platform leverages AI to produce CPD content 10x faster and cheaper than previous approaches, resulting in a highly scalable solution. The platform also allows Medical organisations and societies to rapidly create and distribute high-quality content at a fraction of the cost.
Deep expertise in medical publishing and healthcare applications
Praktiki is led by Matthew Eisenstadt (CEO) and Rajesh Roy (CTO) who bring deep expertise in medical publishing, creator platforms, and leveraging AI at scale.
Matthew has spent 15 years in medical publishing and education, acting as MD to one of the UK’s leading medical publishers and leading their successful exit to WebMD. Following the exit, Matthew led WebMD as UK MD, later becoming VP of Content & Strategy.
Rajesh has spent over 10 years developing and managing large-scale systems at Google, including being the technical lead for YouTube TV, now achieving $11B in ARR. He was later responsible for leading engineering teams at Verily and Android Health Connect, gaining deep exposure to the healthcare vertical and scaling Health Connect to over 200M downloads.
Investment Thesis:
At Antler, we invest in founders with an obsessive drive to solve real problems. From our first conversations with Matthew and Rajesh, it was clear that they weren’t just building another edtech tool—they were on a mission to fundamentally reshape how doctors engage with continuing professional development (CPD). Their conviction, deep expertise, and relentless execution made backing them an easy decision.
Since our investment, Praktiki has demonstrated strong early traction. Over 300 doctors have been onboarded for alpha testing, and more than 1,000 CPD sessions have been delivered. User feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with 95% of users rating sessions as "good" or "excellent," and 92% indicating they would engage with the platform on a weekly basis or more. This strong engagement is further reflected in an impressive Net Promoter Score of 85, signaling a high level of satisfaction and enthusiasm for the product.
The CPD market in healthcare is substantial, and Praktiki has a clear roadmap to capture a meaningful share in both the UK and US. By leveraging AI to generate content and personalize learning experiences, the platform is re-inventing how medical education is produced and delivered, enabling a scalable solution that redefines the inefficiencies of the traditional CPD market. Beyond doctor subscriptions, the platform also enables medical organisations and societies to easily create and distribute their own learning content, opening up a YouTube-style paid partner model. Longer term, Praktiki presents a high value opportunity for large pharmaceutical companies to produce and deliver their own targeted educational content to the medical community.
With a highly capable team, strong early traction, and a significant market opportunity ahead, Praktiki is well-positioned to transform how medical professionals engage with CPD. We are excited to support them on this journey and look forward to seeing their continued success.
